The inaugural afterwork social was held in Leeds city centre in the middle of the well-renowned Digital Festival.
It promised to be a relaxed gathering of like-minded business peers, keen to discuss the challenges and opportunities they’re experiencing, and the role AI might play in moving them forward.
While there was no fixed agenda, the goal of the event was clear – nurture AI conversations without sales pitches (or judgment!) in an environment where everyone is welcome.
Commenting on the idea, CloudWize’s sales director Lee Thatcher said: “We’ve become increasingly aware that while AI is revolutionising how we do business, so many people still have no idea where to start. And while there is so much content available online, the number of opportunities to get together in a face-to-face setting, seems to have dwindled.
“We therefore wondered what would happen if we could get people in a room, from the ultra-experienced to the self-confessed novices, to simply... talk.”
The validity of the idea spoke for itself, with a varied crowd gathering to test the concept.
“We welcomed representatives from the worlds of legal, accounting, communications, analytics, cyber security, and more, with some people ready to get technical, and others happy to merely explore what all the fuss is about.
“We heard a number of discussions about AI-powered process automation to fix individual productivity bottlenecks, while some people were focusing on company-wide projects. Pleasingly, people were also speaking honestly about whether their underlying cloud infrastructure is even fit for purpose, if they’re to achieve the transformation they’re striving for.”
“To see strangers sharing frustrations, fears, experiences and ideas, was exactly what we’d hoped for.”
And that’s the reason why, in less than 48 hours, CloudWize began planning for the second AI Chat Club!
The next social event will take place at Mad Frans in central Leeds, on Tuesday 28 October, from 5:30. If you’d like to join us for good food, a free pint, and honest conversations, you can register to attend, here.
